Woman and pets rescued in New Castle fire

A woman and her pets were rescued from a house fire in New Castle, Pennsylvania.


NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WYTV) – A woman and her pets were rescued from a house fire in New Castle Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were called about 12 p.m. to a house on Winter Street. When crews arrived, there were flames and smoke coming from the first floor.

A woman who was on the second floor and her pets were rescued by firefighters.

“The quick response made all the difference. We were able to get her quickly. A few more minutes and it could have ended differently,” said Justin Data, New Castle City Fire Department.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was being treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire marshal is investigating.
