Bank robber’s call to ‘Mom’ leads police to suspect

Police in Youngstown, Ohio have arrested a suspect in the robbery of the Chase bank location in Youngstown.


Youngstown, Ohio (WYTV) – Youngstown police issued an arrest warrant in connection to the robbery of the Chase Bank on Market Street.

Police named Jayquawn Manigault, 22, of Youngstown in the arrest warrant and charged him with aggravated robbery.

According to the warrant, Manigault walked into the bank at 2900 Market Street about 9 a.m. Tuesday and said that he wanted to open an account. As he was sitting at a desk to complete paperwork, he asked to call his mother and placed a phone call from a bank phone.

Manigault then gave a bank employee a note demanding money and showed a firearm. The employee gave Manigault money in a bag, and he ran from the bank.

Police hit redial on the phone that Manigault used and traced it to a family member who said she was Manigault’s grandmother.

No one was hurt in the incident.
