STRUTHERS, Ohio (WYTV) – Students at Struthers Elementary School got a unique lesson in science on Wednesday.
The Center of Science and Industry, or COSI, held a special program in which students had a chance to participate in “The Incredible Human Machine.” They explored the value of keeping their bodies strong through a number of hands-on activities.
Teachers hope students become inspired to do great things in the future.
“Those kids that are great with their hands, hands-on they might look at something and say ‘wow, I would love to be an engineer to build.’ Use gravity and push and pull and all those things. It just opens up a world of opportunity and a world of thinking for them,” first-grade teacher Carolyn Rinehart said.
Teachers said this is a great opportunity for students who may not have the chance to visit COSI in Columbus. The program has visited the school for the past four years.
