HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) –  Hubbard police have a murder mystery from the weekend on their hands.

On Monday, detectives were back at the scene of the crime and were taking measurements at a parking lot on Main Street and across the street where Cody Pitts, 26, was shot and killed on Orchard Street.

According to police, Pitts, a 2007 Hubbard High School graduate, was last seen alive at the Downtown Coffee Café. Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the Trumbull County 911 Center got a call.

“Who reported that she thought there was a person lying in the roadway. Hubbard police were dispatched to investigate. Upon their arrival, they found a person who was deceased lying in the road,” Hubbard Police Chief James Taafe said.

Police have reviewed surveillance footage from the Downtown Coffee Café as well as interviewed several people who were with Pitts the night of the murder to see if they can determine what happened to him. So far, no arrests have been made.

Trumbull County Coroner Humphrey Germaniuk said Pitts died from a single gunshot wound to the head and that the death was not a suicide.
