AKRON, Ohio – The Summit County Drug Task Force seized a large amount of heroin, with a street value estimated at $1 million, from an Akron home.

The heroin weighed more than two kilos, or roughly 4.4 pounds, investigators said. The bust happened on Feb. 27 on the 1700 block of Wakefield Drive.

A man, Christopher Anthony, 27, who was found at the home, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs. Juan Sheppard, 25, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs.

Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry called the case a significant seizure, possibly one of the largest ever in the county, and said heroin busts are usually measured in ounces or grams, not kilos.

“This has to be one of the tops, no doubt about it, due to the amount. That’s a lot of product for the street,” Barry said.
