Local eatery competing for FedEx grant

Ghossain's restaurant and bakery is competing for a fedex grant

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Valley bakery and cafe needs the public’s help to win a small business grant.

Ghossain’s Gourmet Mediterranean Foods is one of 10 small businesses in the running for a “Thing Bigger” small business grant competition sponsored by FedEx. The top prize is $25,000.

There is only seven days left to vote online through Facebook. Votes also can be cast through Instagram and Twitter and a vote can be cast every 24 hours. Voting ends March 17.

Melissa Poland of Ghossain’s said they would use the money to renovate both their locations in Boardman and Niles.

“You should vote for us because we use fresh products. We are a great store. We are family owned. We have been in business for the last 45 years in the Youngstown area. That says a lot just by itself,” Poland said.

A woman from Poland who is now a fashion designer in Los Angeles is also in the competition. Votes also can be cast for Erika Mark’s clothing line called Black Cake
