NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WYTV) – A New Castle store owner scared off a would-be robber with a pistol on Monday.
According to police, suspect James Morris walked into Main Street Clothiers and told the store owner’s wife he needed a new suit. That is when he asked for her money.
The suspect also said he had a bomb, according to police.
“She turned around, put his hand in his pocket like this and said ‘I have a gun. I want your money.’ And then she called for me. And I came out and he started backing up towards the cash drawer and I had my pistol there and I took it out. I took the safety off and he took off for the door,” owner Mike Caggiano said.
Police caught up with the suspect about 15 minutes later. He remains at the New Castle Jail.
