Vigil planned in Hubbard to remember shooting victim


HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) – A vigil will be held Thursday for 26-year-old Cody Pitts who was shot and killed in Hubbard last weekend.

Born in Chesapeake Virginia, the 2007 graduate of Hubbard High School was a laborer and a union member. He was also a sports fanatic.

The candlelight vigil will begin at 8 p.m. at the place where Pitts’ body was found at the corner of Orchard Avenue and North Main Street in Hubbard.

People who plan to attend the vigil are asked to wear green and white to honor Pitts’ love of Michigan State.

Pitts suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Police continue to investigate but so far have made no arrests.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Hubbard High School gymnasium.
