Cleanup begins at Asphalt Solutions

Asphalt Solutions in Youngstown rebuilding after fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The owners of Asphalt Solutions on Market Street in Youngstown said they will continue to work following Thursday’s devastating fire that destroyed their building and a dozen trucks.

On Friday, they were digging through the charred remains to try and salvage any paperwork or other items and an insurance agent was taking photos of the damage. The owners said they lost approximately $1 million worth of trucks and equipment, but hope to have a final damage estimate from the insurance company on Saturday.

Despite the loss, owners plan to still pave and seal driveways and parking lots when the weather allows in about a month. They already had 20 to 30 jobs lined up before the blaze.

“The business is sound. We have work. We just need equipment,” co-owner Bob Roth said.

Roth and co-owner Justin Bishop said they are thankful for the many offers from local suppliers and businesses to help them move forward.

“A lot of friends throughout the country that we have established who have generously reached out to us, saying they will send equipment to us, they will come and give us a hand if we want. The outpouring has been amazing. You don’t realize the people in your life until something happens,” Roth said.

“We work with a couple different suppliers that have offered to lease us equipment, let us use equipment. Couple businesses have offered for us to use their warehouse space,” Bishop said.

One of the items they salvaged on Friday from Roth’s desk was a picture of his daughter, Brooklyn.

“The hardest part is seeing the vehicles Bob and I built personally,” Bishop said.

Once they get a damage estimate from the insurance company, they will begin to rebuild their business.

“We would like to stay in the city. We are from the west side. We grew up in the city,” Bishop said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
