SALEM, Ohio (WYTV) – Salem has a brand new building in the works called Courtyard Square which features a fine dining restaurant, a 38-seat bar, and numerous other shops.
It is all part of the Save Downtown Salem Project run by developer Scott Cahill. The plan is to bring new life to the town.
“There is a lot going on in Salem. Salem is really changing. I’m looking at a couple of buildings that I would very much like to get a hold of to make sure they don’t crumble and to make sure they are preserved,” said Cahill.
Cahill plans to buy houses that need work, renovate them and then lease or sell them.
The Scratch & Dent Food Outlet is a building Cahill bought, and he and its new owner Ed Lee are overwhelmed with the store’s success.
“People love it. People love the chance they can get something that is $3 at the store for $1,” Lee said.
A farmers market is scheduled for May 2. Already, 14 vendors have signed up.
