Standoff ends peacefully in Lordstown

Beau Gettings

LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police in Lordstown are investigating an incident Monday where a man was holed up inside a house on Highland Avenue.

Police said the parents of Beau Gettings, 20, alerted them about 9 a.m. that their son was acting in a threatening manner.

Police surrounded the house and negotiated with Gettings for about three hours. The Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team was called in and Gettings surrendered without incident.

Police said Gettings’ older brother was in the house with him for a short a time, but left the home and talked with police. It is believed that Gettings may have had an axe.

Gettings was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. He will be charged with domestic violence, but police said more charges may be filed later.

No one was injured in the incident.
