BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – Boardman plans to have a new stadium for the start of the football season in September and on Monday, school officials took action to make sure it happens.
The Board of Education signed a nine-year lease agreement with Farmer’s National Bank. The $1.6 million loan will allow the district to finish the scoreboard, press box and stands for the new stadium.
The stadium is being built at the high school on Glenwood Avenue. The Boardman Booster Club has already raised $1.2 million for the project.
The current stadium is located next to Boardman Center Middle School, meaning football players and the marching band have to be bussed from the high school for home games, costing the district thousands of dollars each season.
