YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County approved two projects at their Monday meeting for library locations in Youngstown and Boardman.
Trustees will begin accepting bids on renovations at the Boardman branch. The project is estimated at $637,000, all of which has already been set aside as part of the Library’s strategic planning.
The board also agreed to enter into a contract with the Diocese of Youngstown to operate a café inside the Newport branch in Youngstown.
Café Augustine would cater to the vocational needs of disadvantaged youth age 18 through 24, who will be employed at the café.
The cafe is working with and would be modeled after Cafe Reconcile, a cafe opened in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Chef Emeril Lagassi was instrumental in the start-up of Cafe Reconcile.
The cafe space was previously occupied by New Seasonings. They vacated the space last fall.
