Man charged with starting Liverpool fire

LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WYTV) – Liverpool Police arrested a 19-year-old man Tuesday, charging that he started a fire at a Liverpool house Saturday.

Police charged Perry Ross, 19, with arson and two counts of criminal damaging. Authorities arraigned Ross in East Liverpool Municipal Court Tuesday morning and are holding him on $100,000 bond until his pretrial, set for Thursday.

The fire broke out Saturday at a house on Lisbon Street.

The blaze damaged a bedroom and a portion of the attic.

The owners claim this is just the latest in a series of what they calling “hate crimes” committed against them.

According to the Morning Journal, owners Ralph and Kathy Houshour said the house, which is vacant while they renovate it, has been targeted by vandals who’ve also broken windows and shot at their refrigerator.

Police say they are looking into their claims and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
