YSU students collecting money for Nepal relief

YSU students collecting for Nepal trip

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – In an effort to help those that have suffered in Nepal, a group of Youngstown State University students and their adviser are looking for donations.

Since they heard about the devastating news this weekend, the group has been asking for donations at Kilcawley Center.

The students can take cash or credit card donations through the Blood Donors of America website. YSU Civil engineering professor Dr. Suresh Sharma said that while no one in the group had friends or family that were lost in the calamity, it still hits home for them.

“Being a Nepalli wherever they are, and they are being aware of that, this is something that is starting in their hearts,” Sharma said.

The group plans to continue to gather donations for at least another week. They do not know how much already has been collected.

“It does not matter whether they donate for $100 or that they donate $1. It is about volition and attitude and that helps the people to strengthen in this dire need and difficult time,” Sharma said.
