STRUTHERS, Ohio (WYTV) – Struthers Police arrested two suspects early Monday morning after a Circle K manager reported someone with a gun robbing the store, according to a police report.
Police charged Lamar Holmes, 19, with aggravated robbery and Blake Valentin, 21, with complicity to robbery.
According to the report, a manager at the convenience store on Maplewood Ave. reported an armed robbery around 4:15 a.m. A Struthers Police officer viewed surveillance footage of the incident and reported recognizing one of the men seen in the video.
Police went to a house where they thought they would find one of the suspects. Holmes and Valentin came to the door when police announced themselves, according to the report. Police searched the house and found a damp pair of shoes, according to the report. A taxi driver showed up and claimed that he had gotten a call for a ride from a phone which police said belonged to Holmes.
Holmes told police he pulled a gun on the cashier and demanded money, while Valentin admitted standing outside the convenience store and waiting for Holmes. According to the police report, the gun Holmes used was a “Black Pellet Gun-made to look like 45 pistol.”
Struthers Police Detective Jeff Lewis credited Officers Aldish and Trolio, saying their quick responses helped solve the case.
