SEBRING, Ohio (WYTV) – The fire chief in Sebring retires in October, but until then he’s been placed on paid administrative leave.
Village manager Richard Giroux told First News that the city put Jim Cannell on leave May 11 due to “non-adherence to administrative pay policies and not following through on procedural pay issues.”
The leave lasts until Cannell’s scheduled retirement in October. Cannell has been fire chief in Sebring since the 1970s and has been a member of the department for 50 years.
Until a new chief can be named, Deputy Fire Chief Brad Harlan is in charge of the department, according to Giroux.
