Teen dies after Columbiana County ATV crash

DAMASCUS, Ohio (WYTV) – An 18-year-old died Monday from injuries sustained in a Sunday afternoon ATV crash with his brother.

According to the Lisbon Morning Journal, the teen’s ATV was struck head on by another ATV being driven by his 19-year-old brother while the two were riding through a field off U.S. Route 62 in Butler Township. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the victim’s name.

A witness told police the younger brother was driving south through the field around 5:45 p.m. when he began to slow down and wave his arms. The older brother was approaching from the other direction at a high rate of speed and lost control, with his ATV spinning 180 degrees and striking his brother’s ATV, the report states.

The right tire of the older brother’s ATV became locked into the front of his brother’s ATV, causing it to flip over and eject his brother.
