Where Are They Now: 2014 Scrappers
Here’s a look back at a handful of Scrappers from last year’s team as we look ahead to where they are now and how they are performing.

Martin Cervenka, C
…Cervenka has hit .255 (14-55) for Lake County this season. He was a member of the Scrappers in each of the last two years (2013-14) appearing in 70 games – tallying 42 hits in 227 at bats.

J.P. Feyereisen, RHP (2014 Draft, 16th Round)
…Feyereisen has pitched in 13 games for Lake County this season accumulating a 1-0 mark with 8 saves while registering a 0.00 ERA and 0.62 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 13 innings…Last year, J.P. tossed 17 innings in 15 appearances (3-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Scrappers.

Cameron Hill, RHP (2014 Draft, 17th Round)
…Hill has seen success at Lake County this season by throwing 16 1/3 innings and allowing just one earned run (0.55 ERA, 0.55 WHIP) while posting 17 k’s and only two walks…Last year, the Oklahoma City native started 12 of his 14 games at Mahoning Valley, compiling a 1.76 ERA in 56 1/3 innings (33 strikeouts, 20 walks).

Jorge Martinez, OF
…Martinez played in 21 games with Mahoning Valley over the past three years (9 in 2012, 12 in 2014). Last year, he hit .283 (13-46) with the Scrappers while belting two homers and finishing with 13 RBIs. This year, he’s playing with the Astros’ Class A team – Quad Cities River Bandits. He’s hitting just .171 (7-41) but does have 2 homers with 5 RBIs.

Francisco Mejia, C
…According to MLB.com, Mejia is the #7 ranked prospect among their minor league system…For the Scrappers, Mejia batted .282 (70-248) as he finished with 17 doubles, 4 triples, a pair of homers and 36 RBIs…This year, for the Captains, he’s hit .212 (22-104) with 7 doubles and 11 RBIs (2 HRs).

Yonathan Mendoza, 3B
…Mendoza played in 63 games in 2014 for Mahoning Valley. He batted .239 (51-213) while scoring 30 runs…Yonathan is at the Double A level this year playing for Akron where he is hitting .267 (12-45) with a homerun and 5 RBIs.

Taylor Murphy, OF (2014 Draft, 18th Round)
…The former Pacific Tiger batted .262 (49-187) last year for Mahoning Valley while driving in 23 runs and homering three times…This year in 29 games for Lake County, Murphy has already homered 4 times while driving in 17 runs and hitting .271 (29-107).

David Speer, LHP (2014 Draft, 27th Round)
…Speer tallied a 2.74 ERA with a 3-1 mark on the hill last year for the Scrappers in 14 games…This year, the Columbia alum has totaled a 2.95 ERA in 18 1/3 innings for Lake County. He’s accumulated 21 strikeouts and allowed just two walks.

Ordomar Valdez, 2B
…The speedy infielder has already stolen 7 bases this year without being caught. Valdez, a Lake County Captain, has hit .259 (15-58) with 7 RBIs…Ordomar batted .274 (34-124) last summer with Mahoning Valley while stealing 9 bases.

Bradley Zimmer, OF (2014 Draft, 1st Round)
…According to MLB.com, Zimmer is the #3 ranked prospect among their minor league system…The former San Francisco Don has hit .288 in 139 at bats for Lynchburg this season while stealing 17 bases and scoring 26 runs. Last year, in Zimmer’s time in Niles, he hit .304 with 11 stolen bases and 17 extra base hits.
