BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Boardman Kiwanis hosted its 111th annual Memorial Day parade and service on Monday.
Paul Rossi, former Canfield High School band director, was the grand marshal and featured speaker for the event, which began at Boardman Center Middle School at 10 a.m. The invocation was given by William Wainio.
Lt. Col. Bill Moss, who is retired from the U.S. Air Force, led the Pledge of Allegiance and placed a wreath in honor of deceased veterans. Mark Luke of the Boardman Kiwanis served as Master of Ceremonies for the memorial service.
The parade featured the Boardman Spartan Marching Band, which also provided music for the memorial service. Parade participants included township trustees, township officials, fire and police departments, the Boardman Board of Education, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, American Legion Post 565 with commander John Malys, Boardman Kiwanis, Boardman Rotary, Boardman Lions, Boardman Civic Association, antique, classic and Model-T car clubs, ambulance companies and bicycles.
Immediately after the parade, Boardman Park hosted a program in its Maag Theatre to honor veterans.
