WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Next year at this time, a historic mansion in Warren will be housing veterans.
The AMG Foundation is restoring the 128-year-old Hughes mansion on North Park Avenue. Right now, the big project is getting rid of some of the plaster on the second and third floors to make work easier for electricians and plumbers.
Veterans will be able to live in the house free of charge when it’s done. They will have private bedrooms.
The house will be open to veterans who need somewhere to stay.
“This is taking a proactive approach to veteran homelessness so if you have a veteran that you know, in say Colorado, who does not have a place to live and we need to get them here, we will find the resources to get them here so they have a place to adjust and get back on their feet,” Anna Gasser of the AMG Foundation said.
AMG Foundation can always use volunteers to help out with the project.
