Reserve rally rolls Blue Devils to Columbus

Western Reserve is heading to Columbus for the 2nd-straight season after a win Friday


LORIAN, OHIO (WYTV)-Western Reserve used an eight run 4th inning to send the Blue Devils back to Columbus for the second-straight year after topping St. Thomas Aquinas 9-3.

Senior John Clegg held the Blue Devils in the game early on before the offense got on a roll, Clegg went 5 innings, allowing just 3 hits, a run and 4 strikeouts.

Western Reserve loaded the bases to start the 4th which is when Evan Nesbitt launched a two-run single to left centerfield which opened the floodgates for 6 more Blue Devils runs in the inning. Nesbitt went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs.

Wyatt Larimer, Walker Marlowe, Clegg, Ian Hames and Karl Klockenga all had an RBI to help the cause.

Western Reserve will play Hicksville in Columbus at 7 PM on Thursday.
