Sharon Police opening new substation

SHARON, Pa. (WYTV) – Sharon Police are expanding their presence in the city.

They get the keys to a new substation on Quinby Street Friday and will begin moving in.

The two-man detail will start officially on Tuesday.

On Monday, police will begin a speed enforcement program throughout the city to try and cut down on speeding and make the city safer for pedestrians.

Sharon officers have also been working to cultivate relationships with those in the community. Police Chief Gerald Smith said meeting with the community has been a big priority and that if the community can trust law enforcement, it will help his department solve crimes and maybe even prevent them.
