Grove City HS students honored in national documentary contest

Grove City, Pennsylvania students win honorable mention from C-Span

GROVE CITY, Pa. (WYTV) – Three students in Mercer County are celebrating today after winning an award for a national documentary contest.

C-SPAN gave Grove City Area High School seniors Lucas Zenobi, Noah Livingston and Caroline Coulter honorable mention in their 11th annual StudentCam competition.

Their documentary, “Freedom’s College: A Collision of Values” told the story of Grove City College v. Bell, a Supreme Court case wherein the college challenged the federal requirements of Title IX.

“I think what Grove City College fights for is for their freedom,” Coulter said. “For religious freedom, and to have their own way to say, ‘We’re going to take a stand for who we are and what we believe in,” which I think is really cool.”

More than 5,000 students across the United States submitted 2,280 documentaries for the competition. The students from Grove City finished in the Top 150 to earn honorable mention and a $250 prize.
