The last team to accomplish this feat was the 2007 Canfield Cardinals (2007 Canfield, 2000 Ursuline, 1993 Campbell, 1988 Ursuline, 1943 Leavittsburg, 1933 Warren Harding).

…The Green Wave are one of three schools to have won seven state championships in baseball (Elder 12, Newark Catholic 7, Cincinnati Moeller 7)…The Wave has won 10 of their last 11 contests…In their last game against Fort Recovery, Newark Catholic received a strong outing from Gabe Morris – who notched his 4th win of the year by going 6 innings with allowing 8 hits and striking out three. Second baseman Jack Wollenburg and outfielder Zac Walker both had a pair of hits.

Western Reserve Blue Devils

…Now at 23-5, Western Reserve will attempt to snag their first ever state championship. In their previous matchup against Hicksville, Wyatt Larimer tossed five innings of shutout ball, striking out 10, to improve his record to 9-0. John Clegg, Jake Clark and Ryan Demsky all posted two hits apiece for Reserve’s offense.

2014 Division IV State Semifinal – June 5 at Huntington Park
…With a 2-1 lead entering the bottom half of the sixth, the Green Wave’s four run inning was highlighted by Conor Keck’s double which scored two. Gave Morris pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed just 2 hits and a walk to the 25 batters he faced. Mike Lohr and Rob Engle both had two hits as the Wave’s top two hitters went 4-6 in the game. For Western Reserve – Dan Zilke, Walker Marlowe and Jon Timko all had base hits for the Blue Devils. Newark advanced to the Finals by virtue of a 6-2 victory to take on Tinora.
