Youngstown firefighters work controlled burn at vacant house

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A vacant home burned down on the south side of Youngstown early Friday.

Crews were called just after 3 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue, near Oak Hill Avenue.

Firefighters let the home burn but worked to make sure the flames didn’t spread to the nearby trees.

Flames and smoke from the fire could be seen for miles as the house became engulfed.

Neighbors say the property had been vacant for 18 years.

The cause remains under investigation.
