AKRON, OH (WYTV)-Haylee Gardiner held Bloom-Carroll to just two hits as Champion won their 6th state softball title in school history beating the Bulldogs 4-0 Saturday morning in the Division III Final.
Gardiner had 6 strikeouts in the complete game effort.
The Champion offense got rolling in the 3rd inning when Molly Williams singled with 2-outs, followed by Brittany Allen singling to left that brought Williams home for the first run of the game.
Williams went 3-3 on the day.
The damaged should have been done there but the Bloom-Carroll catcher could not hold on to the 3rd strike to Alayna Fell, allowing Fell to get to first, and Allen to score on the play.
The Golden Flashes added some insurance in the 7th, thanks to Gardiner who singled to right allowing two runs to come home and extend the lead to 4-0.
With the win, Gardiner improves to 18-2 overall, ending her senior season along with Allen as champions.
