YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Campbell man was indicted Thursday on 10 charges stemming from what police said was the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman he knows last week.
Elijah Lashley Sr., 33, is facing five counts of rape, three counts of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault, according to the Mahoning County grand jury report.
Lashley fled to Baltimore after the alleged crime and was arrested the following day by U.S. Marshals. He is being held without bond at the Mahoning County Jail pending his arraignment at 9 a.m. Friday.
The victim told police Lashley tied her up with wires and duct-tape, and choked her until she passed out after an argument over his drug use, the police report states. She told police Lashley restrained her while she was unconscious and raped her five times throughout the night of June 2 to June 3 while she was tied up.
She also said Lashley threatened to kill her and burn the Coitsville Road house down.
When the victim woke up, she said she discovered Lashley was not there, broke out of her restraints, ran to her neighbor’s house for help and called 911, according to Campbell Police.
Three small children in the home, ranging in age from 2 to 5, when officers arrived were given to family members.
