HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) – Ben Kyle announced his candidacy Tuesday for the Ohio House seat currently held by Sean O’Brien.
Kyle, a Democrat, made the announcement this morning from the Hubbard City Council Chambers.
The election for the 63rd District Representative will not be held until 2016.
The 63rd district covers the southeast portion of Trumbull County, including Hubbard, but not Warren.
Kyle is a fourth-generation funeral director at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard. He serves as the Northeast Regional Director of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association.
Kyle stated in a press release that the principle issues he will focus on include jobs, economic development, health care, infrastructure and efficiency in government to keep taxes down. Kyle said that his experience leading a successful business and being an effective City Councilman rank high in the qualities necessary to be a great legislator.
“It has been something that I have always felt a passion for ever since I was a student and throughout my working career. Ever since I have been a councilman here in Hubbard, it has always been a goal of mine to help the entire district,” Kyle said.
O’Brien has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election. The primary is set for March of next year.
