YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – We have certainly been inundated with rainfall this month. June 2015 saw several storm systems that brought rain, in addition to a pattern that brought a steady stream of of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. We ended up with 60% of the month being cloudy, or 18 days. The other 12 days were partly cloudy, which equates to 40% of the month.

As for temperatures, the month ended up being fairly average overall. The average high temperature was 76.3° and the average low was 57.6°. The average temperature overall was 67.0°. That is only 0.6° above normal. The warmest temperature was 89° on June 12th, while the coldest was 45° on July 1st.

The big story was the rain and flooding. The airport picked up 9.02″ of rain, which was 5.14″ above average. Here at WYTV studios, we saw 8.29″ for the month. June 2015 will go in the record books as the 3rd wettest june on record, and the wettest June since 1989. We recorded precipitation on 24 out of 30 days, meaning 80% of the month was wet. The highest amounts fell on June 27th, when 1.97″ fell, and June 14th, when 1.86″ fell. In addition to being the 3rd wettest June, it was also the 7th wettest month on record at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, Ohio.
