Rain damage closes road in Weathersfield Township

Road closed

WEATHERSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – Salts Springs Road between Niles Carver Road and Ohltown McDonald Road in Weathersfield Township is closed until further notice.

The rain has washed away a culvert there.

The Trumbull County Engineer’s Office closed the road because of the damage.

“Part of the pipe was blocked due to tree limbs and debris. At that point, the water went over the roadway and washed out and undermined part of the roadway,” said Tom Kleja, assistant highway superintendent. “We had to close it until it is inspected for the engineer and deemed safe.”

Weathersfield police are on the scene and will issue citations to motorists who attempt to drive through the area.

Heavy rain showers moved through Valley Tuesday night, causing localized flooding and ponding water on roads.

Some of the hardest hit areas were Weathersfield, McDonald and Mineral Ridge.
