WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Seven Seventeen Credit Union is set to acquire Kent Credit Union. The merger will take place November 1, pending regulatory approval.
Kent Credit Union has two locations in Portage County, the main branch at Kent State University and a location in Ravenna.
“We felt that our membership would be best served in the future by a larger credit union that had the resources to not only provide the latest technologies, but to handle the skyrocketing cost of doing business in the current regulatory environment,” said Kent Credit Union president and CEO Joseph Crawfis. “Seven Seventeen has a reputation for being progressive and member focused.”
The 7,400 members of Kent Credit Union will be added to the more than 67,000 current Seven Seventeen members.
Seven Seventeen currently has a branch in Kent that is within one mile of the Kent Credit Union location. The additional location will be evaluated before any decisions are made on its future.
Seven Seventeen Credit Union is composed of customers living in Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Portage counties. The main office is located in Warren with ten branch locations.
The merger will now open up membership to customers living in Summit County.
