YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Mahoning County Dog Warden Dave Nelson took two dogs from a home on Crofton St. Wednesday afternoon after saying the conditions inside were disgusting.
Nelson said that a Youngstown Police officer heard the dogs barking and called Animal Charities and himself to investigate. When Nelson arrived, he said that he found one dog chained up in front of the house and another chained up in back, both without access to food or water.
No one was home at the time, according to Nelson, but someone might have been staying there off and on.
Nelson speculated that the two dogs might be used for dog fighting or as security for some kind of illegal activity in the house.
The local humane society has taken ownership of the dogs. Nelson said that the location is known as a spot for dropping off unwanted dogs.
