GREENE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – Police in Trumbull County have found a cross country runner who went missing in Greene Township earlier in the day, according to a Trumbull County Sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy did not immediately specify when, where or by whom Adam Burgard, 15, was found.

According to Trumbull County Sheriff’s Major Harold Firster, Burgard was out on a practice run on Dennison Ashtabula Road just north of Route 87 and east of Mosquito Lake with his Maplewood High School teammates when he fell behind and then disappeared around 9:30 a.m.

Soon after the beginning of the search, police moved the bulk of their efforts closer to the line between Trumbull County and Ashtabula County.

Burgard’s parents filed a missing persons report, and police have issued an endangered child alert for Burgard, Firster said. Officers from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol were looking for Burgard starting around 1 p.m. OSHP called out a helicopter to help with the search.
