Driver hits utility pole in Youngstown knocking out power, takes off

A driver hit a utlity pole in Youngstown cutting off power to many before taking off

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police are looking for the person involved in an accident on Glennwood Avenue in Youngstown.

A car hit a utility pole, causing wires to fall down and knocking out power to hundreds of customers.

A semi-truck driver called police about 1 a.m. Thursday after seeing the car, which was off the road in the grass. The driver was not in the vehicle.

A section of Glennwood Avenue near the entrance to Mill Creek Park was closed as crews worked to repair the pole.

Nearly all power has been restored.

Youngstown Fire Department and Youngstown Police responded to the call.
