WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Local mail carriers on Thursday joined thousands across the country who have individually driven more than one million, accident-free miles.
During a ceremony at the Warren Post Office, Joyce Baillie, Dale Laginya, Dave Ditchey, George Woitek and James Villio were honored for their safe driving. The workers received a plaque and the entire mail room had cake to celebrate.
“We are out in the community every day. We promote that we work safe. When you think about it, they are driving in the communities up and down the streets, so again, safety is paramount,” Warren Postmaster Timothy Needham.
Since 2005, more than 9,000 Postal Service employees have achieved this distinction. More than 300,000 letter carriers and truck drivers log more than 1.2 billion miles annually when delivering to America’s 153.9 million addresses.
