Hot advice: Keep tabs on the elderly

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Temps near 90 and heat index values in the mid and upper 90s: It’s a Storm Team 27 Forecast that should have you checking on elderly relatives and neighbors.

When it gets this warm, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you check on older folks twice each day. They suggest chilled, non-alcoholic beverages to stay cool. Perhaps even a cool bath is a good idea.

The CDC also says no strenuous activities. And stay indoors during the worst heat of the day; maybe a trip to an air-conditioned mall or other such facility is a good idea. Of course you should wear lightweight, light-colored clothing also.
