YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A steam locomotive will be making a special appearance in Youngstown this weekend.

An Austintown resident and train enthusiast tracked the train through northeast Ohio to get a video. The Fort Wayne Indiana Railroad Historical Society is offering the opportunity for people to take a ride on the historical locomotive.

The 19-car train will leave the Covelli Centre Saturday and Sunday morning and head for Ashtabula, returning in the evening. Some people are calling this trip an opportunity of a lifetime.

“There is only a handful of steam locomotives that operate in the United States. Sure, you can go to a museum railroad that have steam engines, but to see a steam locomotive out on the mainline going through towns like this, that is really a big deal,” Austintown resident Scott Williams said.

The train leaves the Covelli Centre at 9 a.m. with boarding at 8:30 a.m. and arrives back at 5 p.m. The only tickets remaining for Saturday are $299 and $449 tickets. There are several $89 tickets available for Sunday.
