CAMPBELL, OH (WYTV)-After having winning seasons from 2009-2012, Campbell has suffered back-to-back losing seasons after grabbing just two wins last year, but are hopeful that the young players that got experience last year will bring a winning season back to the school.
The Red Devils lost several skill position players to graduation including quarterback Stephan Elash, but return 7 starters on offense and on defense.
“My goal is to never have our team be out-effort. We want to compete, we want to get better every single day that we step out here to practice and you know we want to get after it. I think we’ve got some kids and hopefully we could have some success early and build upon that,” says head coach Ed Rozum who is in the 2nd-year of his 4th stint at Campbell.
The offensive line proves to be the strong suit for Campbell, returning all five starters from a year ago that seem hungry to put that 2-8 season from last year behind them.
“We just know that we’re better than we were last year and we were a real young team. There’s a lot of guys that were out for a couple of years and just came back so that had a lot to do with everything but we think we’re heading in the right direction,” says senior lineman Paul White.
Campbell opens the season August 28th against Lakeview.
