JACKSON-MILTON, OH (WYTV)-After a dream start to the 2014 season winning their first three games, Jackson-Milton lost seven straight to end the season, going winless in the ITCL.
“We got pumped up the first three games, thought we were going to do big things but went to the league and lost seven straight it hurts. I keep reminding kids just think of that, think how it felt to just win three and taste the greatness. We want it this year,” says senior quarterback Mike Assion.
Assion is one of 16 seniors on this years team that features seven starters returning on offense and on defense.
“I do believe in our ones real well. Depth is something we are working on this summer. If we can acquire some depth and do what we need to do then those last seven games should be much more competitive,” said ninth-year head coach Mark Assion.
The team also returns Joey Burnside who rushed for over 1,000 yards for the Blue Jays. The team has the attitude that they have something to prove to everyone this year.
“We feel the last couple years we have been embarrassed a lot. We want to come out and prove to everyone we can play, we are athletes, we just want to prove to everyone we are here and you have to worry about us,” said senior linebacker Anthony Italiano
The Blue Jays open the season August 28th against Southington.
