YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The music ranges from hard rock to folk. And the crowd is just as eclectic. The 10th VexFest took over downtown Youngstown streets Sunday, with 28 bands performing inside and out.
Jason Tibolla, who put the event together, says “I like it a little bit heavier but everybody likes a little bit of everything so we try to put a little of everything”.
There was music all day, until 2 a.m. in fact. At midnight, the show moved inside.
“I’ve actually been coming the last few years”, says Anthony Burrus of Boardman. “Haus is one of my favorite bands”.
300 bands auditioned to be in the festival, so Warren native John Dante was happy he was one of the 28 that made the cut. “It feels awesome. It’s fun. I like doing original music. It’s very freeing.”
Dante says Youngstown is the perfect place for VexFest, especially with the way people like music here. “I saw a lot of people I know. A lot of friendly faces”.
