Sharon, PA (WYTV) – It’s been five years since the Tigers won a District 10 crown in Double A. But longtime coach Jim Wildman has them headed in the right direction with back-to-back playoff appearances.
And Wildman has a strong senior class returning, along with 15 starters back…8 on defense and 7 on offense, which will be led by senior QB Andrew Tomko. He passed for over 2 thousand yards and 17 touchdowns last season and will have plenty of weapons around him, along with three offensive lineman back. Defensively, the Tigers are just as experienced, with senior linebacker Da’mon Rudolph leading the way as a two-way standout. So the talent is there, now Sharon will have to capitalize on that experience.
“Experience is something you have to experience, you can’t teach it so to us this year, it is extremely vital,” said Wildman.
“I know what to expect out there, I know how the game is,” said Tomko. “I know how fast the speed of the game is. the younger kids can look to us and we feed off each other.”
“Having two years of experience in playoffs in first and second round, knowing what to expect, knowing the pressure that comes with it, I definitely think we’re D-10 ready this year,” said senior lineman Tyler Wilson.
The Tigers open up the regular season against Struthers on September 4th.
