FARRELL, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – Southwest Regional Police in Mercer County hope to catch the vandals who did damage to the Monsignor Geno Monti School in Farrell. The school is closed, but the attached Fatima Hall on Union Street is still used for events.
People arriving for an activity Monday discovered damage throughout the building. Someone set off fire extinguishers in the gym, burned papers, and ransacked classrooms and the library.
Neighbors would like to see the building used more for community activities. “Would like to see maybe some kind of summer league, recreational leagues, intramurals. basketball, three on three tournaments,” says Sean Marshall. “Anything to get the kids off the streets (like) art programs. You have a gym in there. Classrooms. You could utilize all that.”
Police say right now they have no suspects. If you saw anything suspicious in the area, you’re asked to call Southwest Regional Police.
