Struthers opens season with win


YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Struthers opened their 2015 season with a convincing win over Liberty 34-7.

In the first quarter, a long pass from A.J. Musolino to Tekale Rushton set up a one yard Wildcat run to give Struthers a 6-0 lead.

With 7:23 in the first quarter and now on defense, Musolino put the Wildcats up 14-0 after intercepting a Leopard pass and taking it back 55 yards for the score.

With 3:06 remaining in the first half, Regal Reese punched it in from one yard out to push the Wildcats lead to 21-0.

In the third quarter, Rushton caught his second touchdown on the night, this one from 40 yards out to make it 27-0 Struthers.

In the fourth quarter, Musolino connected with Andy Deem for another score, giving Struthers a commanding 34-0 lead.

Musulino completed 8 of 14 for 157 yards. Reese gained 68 rushing yards to lead the Wildcats. Rushton averaged 30 yards per catch (4 receptions, 120 yards).

Struthers will visit Sharon (PA) in week two. Liberty will visit Lakeview.
