CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – The Canfield Fair officially opens Wednesday.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the grandstand attraction is a cheerleading demonstration beginning at 11 a.m.
At 8 p.m. the Happy Together Tour takes the stage with musical favorites spanning the 50s and 60s featuring the music of The Turtles, The Association, and the Buckinghams, to name a few. The Band Perry is scheduled for Sept. 3 at 8 p.m.
Wednesday is also miniature horse and pony day with judging and competitions scheduled through the day.
Over 900 vendors are set up the fair and attendance is expected to reach near 300,000 over the six-day period, running from Wednesday Sept. 2 through Labor Day.
Due to heavy traffic, police are urging motorists to use caution in the area and consider using an alternate route utilizing Leffingwell Road. Express routes have been set up by police to help motorists from out of the area find their way to the fairgrounds.
