SHARON, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – Having last week’s victory over Struthers forfeit due to an ineligible player, the Sharon Tigers entered Friday’s Game of the Week matchup with Hickory looking to make a statement.

Fireworks started early .
On the first play from scrimmage, William Gruber connected with Joey DeJulia on a 74 yard touchdown pass, putting the Hornets up 7-0.
On the ensuing Sharon drive, the Hornets’ defense stepped up when Charles Carr intercepted a Tiger pass and returned it to the Sharon 12 yard line. Two plays later, Carr finished it off on a nine yard touchdown run, making it 14-0.
With 5:44 remaining in the first, Sharon punched it in from two yards out on an Andrew Tomko run, getting back within a touchdown, 14-7.
Then, with 7:00 remaining in the half, Hickory turned to Carr again who scored from four yards out to increase the Hornets’ lead to 21-7.
With time expiring in the first half, Tomko connected with Jahmeer Jordan on a 60 yard Hail Mary pass to pull the game to within one score, 21-14.
Riding momentum coming out of the locker room, Sharon stormed back to tie the game with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter. Tim Thompson grabbed a 19 yard touchdown pass to pull the game even.
With 2:55 remaining in the third, the Hornets answered. Taking to the air, Luke Brennan connected with DeJulia on a 47 yard touchdown pass to reclaim the lead.
In the fourth quarter, Sharon tied things up again when Tomko hit Thompson from 24 yards out for the score, knotting it up at 28-28.
On the ensuing kickoff, Andrew Pryts took the kick 70 yards for the score, giving the lead back to the Hornets. A failed extra point conversion made it 34-28.
On their own 29 yard line, the Hornets offense turned the ball over, giving Sharon life. Through the air, Tomko hit Jordan from 30 yards out to give Sharon their first lead of the game, 35-34. It would prove to be the game winning score.
