Collection of broadcasting history moving to Tyler Center

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Mahoning Valley Historical Society has one of the richest collections of broadcasting equipment and memorabilia in the country. That part of our local history will soon be more accessible.

The Business and Media Archives Collection is moving to the Tyler History Center on West Federal Street. It’s currently housed in the Carriage House behind the Arms Family Museum on Wick Avenue.

Historical Society Director Bill Lawson says the new space allows greater public access to the collection which includes a research room, exhibit space, and viewing stations. Lawson says, “We are very excited about having this collection on this site and making it available to the public to learn about broadcast history.”

The public is invited to attend a free open house at the Tyler Center this Saturday from noon to four. WKBN has donated extensively to this collection.
