Karafa boots Champion past Girard

GIRARD, Ohio (WYTV) – Eric Karafa kicked the game-winning 20-yard field goal as time expired to give Champion a 9-7 win over Girard. The Golden Flashes even their record at 2-2.

Champion gained 233 yards on the ground while converting 13 first downs. Eric Fenstermaker led the Flashes with 131 yards rushing. Nate Stahlman picked up 54 on 19 carries. Champion’s quarterback Brandon Allen completed 3 of 8 for 49 yards.

Girard was only able to muster 153 total yards. Freshman QB Mark Waid led Girard with 78 stripes on 13 totes. Jake Ryser gained 43 rushing yards and 9 receiving yards.
