BOARDMAN TWP, Ohio (WYTV) – Boardman residents turned out at the Lariccia Community Room in Boardman Park for Candidates and Issues Night Monday night.
Six issues were discussed including the 3.85 mill renewal levy. Police Chief Jack Nichols sent a strong message regarding that. “We’ll be in crisis mode if the levy were to fail,” says Nichols.
Nichols says the department would be forced to lay off officers if the levy goes down.
Among the other issues discussed were the Metroparks 1.75-renewal and .25-additional levy, the Boardman Parks .6 mill issue, and the state marijuana issue.
There are also two Boardman Local Schools renewal issues on the ballot. School board candidates were also on hand.
The event was sponsored by the Boardman Civic Association.
