Youngstown fracking amendment makes another run, group supports passage

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Community Bill of Rights will make its fifth run on the Youngstown ballot when it appears once again this November.

Members of Frack Free Mahoning Valley held a press conference Thursday at the Board of Elections to explain why they want the publics support for the issue to ban hydraulic fracturing within the city of Youngstown.

The group also addressed the recent Ohio Supreme Court ruling that allowed for the amendment to appear to on the ballot, after board members said it was unconstitutional.

“We need people to join us, to volunteer to help people understand that it is a yes vote. It is yes for our right. It is yes for your right to drink clean water,” said Susie Beirsdorfer, FrackFree Mahoning Valley.

The group is optimistic that the Community Bill of Rights will pass this time.     But if not, they plan to put it on the ballot again.
